Elle Cox

Elle joined Gibbs & Cox in 2019 as a Business Analyst and helps to support proposal efforts. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and German from Virginia Tech in 2019, and prior to joining G&C, held internships with General Dynamics and the US Department of State. Since joining G&C, Elle has contributed to our winning of several notable programs. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with friends, knitting socks, learning French, and perfecting her sourdough baking skills.

Michael Poslusny

Michael recently joined our Survivability Department as a Senior Engineer to lead shock qualification efforts on some of our newest programs. He brings over 20 years of environmental qualification testing and Navy shipbuilding experience to the team. Outside of the office, Michael is a working musician and spends most of his time boating and fishing.

Evan Lee

This month’s employee spotlight is Evan Lee!

Evan joined Gibbs & Cox in August 2020 as a Naval Architect. Prior to working at G&C, Evan supported a variety of projects at BMT Designers and Planners in Arlington, Virginia, including stability work for the Tall Ship Providence on the Alexandria waterfront. He is a Michigan native and a freshwater man at his core; his first job after graduating in April of 2017 was with Bay Engineering, Inc. in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, where he conducted naval architecture work on Lake freighters, ATBs, icebreakers, 1000-footers, and even a riverboat casino. Despite leaving the Lakes, Evan is glad to be living in the DC area and he enjoys the history, hiking, skiing, camping, and boating opportunities offered by the region.

Rachelle Gaines

This month’s employee spotlight is Rachelle Gaines!

Rachelle began her career with Gibbs & Cox as a general contractor in January of 2020, later transitioning into her current role as a full-time Project Scheduler. Prior to joining Gibbs & Cox, Rachelle worked in the Shipbuilding Industry for over 15 years, gaining valuable experience in construction welding, Ship Production Management, Post Delivery Support Planning, and Scheduling, and held a variety of leadership roles at Huntington Ingalls and BAE Ship Systems. Her experience and background as a Post Delivery Production Planner/Scheduler on the Landed Platform Dock (LPD) and Destroyer Guided Missile (DDG) class ships has enabled her to bring an immediate impact to G&C’s program scheduling. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, shopping, and spending time with her three children.

Tathiana Serrano

Tathiana joined Gibbs & Cox in the fall of 2020, and she is excelling in her role as a configuration engineer supporting the DDG-51 program. Tathiana graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from East Carolina University in 2019 and, prior to joining G&C, gained valuable experience as a systems engineer, working for Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS). While at NNS, she assisted with risk management and knowledge management for the USS George Washington. She is new to the DC area and is very excited to explore the city and continue her hobbies of traveling, trying new foods, and playing tennis.

Kevin Barnwell

Prior to Kevin joining G&C he was part of the Design Trainee Program at Newport News Shipbuilding in 2004 specializing in Pipe design for new construction of aircraft carriers. While dedicating 14 years of his career to Newport News Shipbuilding he advanced his design skills, growing from a Junior Designer to Senior Designer while working in new construction. Kevin joined Gibbs & Cox as a Senior Pipe designer in 2017. His primary responsibilities are coordinating with engineering and planning groups to produce detailed ship design products, drawings, schematics, and P&IDs using AutoCAD, Ship constructor, and Intergraph (Smart 3D).

In his off time, he attends South University, pursuing his degree in Business Administration. Along with work and school, he has been running his own business for over 10 years, recently rebranding to become “Bwell Services” and expanding his services to include transportation, life coaching, Photography, Event Planning, and Interior Design. He has also recently received his Life Coach and Mindfulness Certification as well as being an Ordained Minister.
