What We Do

Naval Architecture

Design services provided by Gibbs & Cox rely on an experienced team of naval architectural, marine, mechanical, electrical, electronic, and engineering specialists.  This work  involves a wide range of activities beginning with concept and feasibility design, and continuing all the way through to construction design, life-cycle support, and even into ship-alt design for service-life extensions.

production design

The Gibbs & Cox production design process includes integration of a 3D CAD product model of the vessel based on classed and approved functional drawings,  vendor drawings,  and the shipyard’s build strategy in a configuration optimized for vessel construction. Production drawings and information are extracted from the 3D product model to support complete construction of the vessel in a sequence and format best aligning with the build processes and work centers at the shipyard.

Marine Engineering

Design services provided by Gibbs & Cox rely on an experienced team of naval architectural, marine, mechanical, electrical, electronic, and engineering specialists.  This work  involves a wide range of activities beginning with concept and feasibility design, and continuing all the way through to construction design, life-cycle support, and even into ship-alt design for service-life extensions.

Cyber Security

Gibbs & Cox provides cybersecurity services aimed at protecting clients' critical information systems and shipboard industrial control systems (ICS).  Protecting shipboard ICS from cybersecurity threats requires a unique skill set.  The combination of our in-depth knowledge of marine systems engineering and cybersecurity expertise allows us to help clients protect vital ship systems in an ever changing threat environment.

autonomy

An unmanned system’s (UMS) autonomy is its own ability of sensing, perceiving, analyzing, communicating, planning, decision-making, and acting, to achieve its goals as assigned by its human operator(s). Autonomy is characterized into levels by factors including mission complexity, environmental difficulty, and level of Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) required to accomplish the missions.

Government Support Services

Gibbs & Cox has implemented best practices in program management for our own internal design programs throughout our history.  More recently, we have also provided those same program management services to external clients.  Our staff includes certified Project Management Professionals (PMPs), who have demonstrated proficiency in the application of the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).
