MARINE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER - ARLINGTON, VA

Responsibilities:

Work independently (with minimal supervision) or on project teams
Lead small structural engineering projects or teams
Perform complex analyses, calculations and engineering studies
Develop formal technical reports summarizing analyses, calculations and studies
Interface with clients and Gibbs & Cox staff in other disciplines at a peer level

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or Ocean Engineering
Proficiency in the use of industry standard structural design tools and finite element analysis software; knowledge of NASTRAN essential
Knowledge / experience in transient dynamic analysis (shock, US Navy DDAM, air blast)
Applicants with a specialty in fatigue life evaluation of complex structures will be given special consideration
Ability to work with AutoCAD
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially EXCEL, essential
