SENIOR NAVAL ARCHITECT -ALL LOCATIONS

Responsibilities:

  • Works independently (with minimal supervision), or on project teams 
  • Lead multi-disciplined teams 
  • Manage cost, schedule and technical product development 
  • Supervise junior staff on projects or teams 
  • Performs quality assurance reviews of complex analyses, calculations and drawings developed by junior and mid-level staff 
  • Interacts with clients at a peer level
  • Demonstrate competency in all of the following areas, and particular expertise in several:

    • Weight estimating (both conceptual and detailed)
    • Intact and damage stability assessment
    • General arrangements development
    • Speed/Power/Resistance estimation (both analytical and scale testing)
    • Conceptual design of ship HM&E systems
    • Conceptual topside layout
    • Seakeeping prediction
    • Maneuvering prediction
    • Deck equipment sizing and layout
    • Inclining experiments

·         Experience in other areas, as follows, is desirable:

    • Computational fluid dynamics
    • NAVAIR requirements integration
    • Surface combatant builder’s specification development
    • Equipment purchase specification development
    • Radar cross section analysis

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Architecture   
  • Professional Engineering Certification (in Naval Architecture or other applicable discipline) with 8 years of professional engineering experience or 12 years experience without Certification 
  • Proficiency in using industry-standard naval architecture software tools such as:

·         ASSET

·         GHS

·         SHCP

·         AutoCAD

·         NAVCAD

·         SMP

·         MS-Office
